I’m not one of those nonchalant, effortlessly cool girls that has ‘never dreamt of a white wedding’, because honestly? I definitely have- I just didn’t expect to be dusting off ambitious Pinterest boards so soon (especially since we’re still partially living out of cardboard boxes)- but I’m certainly not complaining! I wasn’t sure if this was a little too soppy to share, but seeing as I seem to have made a career out of being an over sharer and an inadvertent joy of documenting things then why not? C’est la vie!
After planning a birthday meal last Sunday for Joe (and having spent the morning slooping about the house in a dressing gown until 2) Joe’s dad and sister Molly came over around 6, in order to pick me up and then meet Joe at our local favourite pub for a drink before eating. Unfortunately Molly felt ‘tired’ (weird for the girl who seems to have endless energy)- so we cancelled our dinner reservation and headed home. After walking up our path (and seeing a bag of coke and lemonade out the front) we went inside to which I observed how ‘warm it felt’ (ALL THE BODIES!) I still had no idea what was coming, and after letting myself in first, opened the dining room to find some of our closest family and friends all inside who greeted us with a loud ‘SURPRISE!’ Surprised, I definitely was…
At this point the only thing I could possibly assume was that some of my friends had planned a surprise birthday party for Joe (without my involvement), or even a housewarming- and it was only after Joe pulled a little black box out of his pocket and got down on one knee that I thought maaaaybe it was something else entirely. I have honestly never been so surprised about anything in my life- and I’m certainly a tough nut to crack when it comes to catching me off guard- but it couldn’t have been more perfect. Being able to instantly cry/celebrate/dance until the early hours with some of my nearest and dearest- as well as indulging in a feast of Domino’s, ice cream from the tub and a lot of Ariana made for one of the happiest nights of my life, and I couldn’t have asked for anything better.
Wedding content was never something I’d thought about with the blog. Seeing as I started it whilst wearing a creased polyester Topshop suit to sixth form- seeing where things would go, or where they would end up was never something that I crossed my mind. But, when talking to my mum after the engagement last week it seemed strange to not. This blog has travelled with me through weekend retail shifts, UCAS applications, dropping out of university, going full time, moving out and now this- it just feels like another chapter patiently waiting to be documented, and I’m excited to share it with you too!
(Thanks to Lucy for the snaps- it’s always useful having blogger pals at special occasions)!
