One of the first posts I did when we moved in to our home was a little introduction to some of the artwork we had been adding to our (once blank) walls. It was my first dip into interiors content, and seeing as it’s something I love reading myself- thought I’d come back this week with a little follow up from that post and another peek into our home.
For us, picking pictures and art for our walls is far more about sentiment than current trends. Although admittedly, we picked a couple of things for aesthetic reasons and to compliment certain tones and hues of a room (can you blame a girl??), it’s such a luxury being able to pick pieces we both love and that have some kind of small meaning to us.
Although I do have more posts planned with room-by-room updates, waiting for little things to complete spaces has been a bit of a waiting game so this felt like my next best bet. Plus, as I mentioned previously, prints and artwork are easily some of the quickest (and often most affordable) ways of updating a space, so let me show you around and tell you about some of the pieces we’ve selected to spice things up. We’ve discovered a plethora of bloody amazing brands and designers in the process, so hopefully you might discover something new too!
– Our living room is one of my favourite spaces in the house, and I’m so happy with how all of the prints have come together. The top image of Jane and Serge is one Joe got me for my birthday from Made’s limited collection, with Farrah being a Christmas present from my mum and dad and the Je T’aime Magique print being from Hotel Magique– who specialise in some of the most beautiful wall art and cards online.
– Outside of our lounge we have the ~music hall of fame~ (a.k.a prints of musicians and artists we love so thought we’d keep together). The two main prints here (a Beatles poster out of shot) are this awesome Bowie piece and pop art print of our fave, George Michael. They were both from one of my favourite online (and IRL) shops, We Built This City and if you haven’t checked them out I highly recommend a visit. With the brand championing ‘London-inspired goods from artists, designers and makers, living and working in the city’- it’s a very very cool spin on traditional London souvenirs, and have some of the coolest art I’ve spotted in one place. On top of that, our bigger Bowie picture by Hattie Stewart is also from here, and it’s safe to say I think this is only the tip of our WBTC collection.
– Back to the living room! On the wall next to our fireplace we have another three of my favourites. The top photo is a print by my friend Freddie and is a beautiful black and white shot of the ice-rink at Central Park. Being one of our favourite special places (and having visited both with my family and Joe around Christmas) holds a special place in my heart and always reminds me of past visits. We also have a framed embroidered picture of Mike from Stranger Things from my best friend Gemma- and also an old print of Jean Shrimpton which I’ve had for years.
– Leading on, and in the dining room we have the two Desenio prints I mentioned previously (as well as the simple line drawing in the bedroom) which are still going strong as well as this bad-ass print by Jade Fisher– which I picked up at the Princes Trust Tomorrow Store and love a lot.
– Finally! The kitchen! One of the first things we framed in here was an old menu from my first ever visit to The Ivy. We went for my 18th birthday (when there was only the one in London) and my dad made sure to take one home as a reminder. Although it doesn’t offer too much menu inspiration each evening, I love having it in the kitchen and think it really adds something special to the space.
Where do you like to get art and prints from? This girl is always on the look out!

October 11, 2017 at 3:21 pmI love all of your prints and that they are all so personal, they aren’t just pretty but hold such beautiful memories! I love the idea of framing a menu from a restaurant dear to your heart. My favourite print of all is the larger Bowie one, it is so brilliant. I love to buy prints from art gallery shops and another thing I love to do is to buy cards and frame them as a sort of mini gallery wall. It is such an affordable way to get art into your space! It look super cute too! Love the interiors posts, can’t wait for the next one.

October 16, 2017 at 1:15 pmI’m currently on the lookout for prints as my walls are bare after moving into my own home! I’ve got quite a few saved from Etsy and Desenio too (so so affordable), and having had a quick look at Hotel Magique I can’t wait to browse your other recommendations. Thanks Liv!
